HOW TO SET UP YOUR POLYCOM
Before you Begin

Before you begin, please be sure you have all of the necessary hardware. You will need the following:

  • Main Polycom Unit
  • Polycom Microphone
  • Polycom Microphone Cable
  • Polycom Power Adapter
  • Polycom Power Cord
  • Polycom Remote (w/ Fresh Batteries)
  • Video Cable
  • Network Jack to Health Alert Network
  • Network Cable

Connecting the System

  1. You will need to assemble the components together based upon the picture above. Please be sure that you connect the network jack in to the inner network jack on the back of the Polycom, which has a symbol above it that looks like a stoplight (instead of the icon with the computer).
  2. Make a note of where you plug the video cables into the TV monitor. Typically this will be labeled as "VIDEO 1", but this may not be the case in your circumstance.
  3. Turn on the TV, and using the buttons on either the front of the TV or on the TV remote, change the input so that it reads "VIDEO 1", or whatever the input was that you connecting the Polycom unit to.
  4. Turn up the volume on the TV to approximately the halfway point. This is a good starting point, but will likely need to be adjusted later to your preferences.
  5. Turn on the Polycom by flipping the power switch on the rear of the unit. After a brief delay of no more than 30 seconds, the Polycom logo will display on the screen and you will hear sound. If you do not see this or hear the audio, double-check all of the video and audio connections according to the picture above.
  6. Using the Polycom remote, adjust the volume to approximately the halfway point.
  7. Using the directional arrows on the Polycom remote, move the camera so that it displays your meeting area appropriately.
  8. Place the Polycom microphone as far away from the TV on the table, and close to the meeting participants.
  9. Depress the button on the Polycom microphone so that it glows red. This indicates that your microphone is now muted.

Testing Connectivity

To properly test your system, you will need to place a call to the TALHO bridge. TALHO personnel will need to make the bridge ready for your call. When you are ready to test your system, please call the TALHO main office at 512-528-9691.

During the test, adjust the volume level using the TV remote such that it is clearly audible but not too loud. The louder the system, the more potential for feedback through the microphone.
