POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Works under the direction of the Epidemiologist. Provides technical guidance to the WCCHD District Leadership Team (DLT) for planning, designing, and implementing projects. Analyzes and interprets statistical data to monitor and identify results of county-wide health studies, populations at risk, and factors causing disease. Work includes measuring programmatic efforts, developing performance measures, creating evaluation strategies, developing and/or refining theoretical concepts, designing and implementing complex evaluation/surveillance/research studies, coordinating studies, collecting, analyzing and evaluating data, and communicating results. Works closely with DLT to develop and maintain a district wide plan for prioritizing quality assurance review and data analysis in support of programmatic activities, community health assessment and the Ten Essential Functions of Public Health. Assignments include complex work with SPSS and other statistical software, analyzing community health data, and disseminating study results through presentations and publications. Designs and maintains community health profiles for Williamson County and rural/urban areas within the county. Provides technical assistance related to data analysis, statistical software, and interpretation of statistics to teams working on various public health problems and implementing disease prevention strategies. Proposes, initiates, and assists in the planning and execution of special projects, including design specification, consolidation, and analysis of survey data. Supports the DLT’s efforts to implement an iterative Community Health Assessment Process to support processes such as Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships (MAPP) or Assessment Protocol for Excellence to prioritize public health issues and identify resources to address them.

EDUCATION-LICENSE-CERTIFICATIONS:

Masters degree in biostatistics/statistics, public health or related field preferred. Minimum 4-year college degree with major course work in statistics or biostatistics is required. Experience in biostatistics, epidemiology or related fields, and research is preferred.

 

SKILLS AND/OR PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Works mostly in a well-lighted, air-conditioned office. May work in various WCCHD offices around the County and in a variety of community locations. Occasional work activities may be outdoors and, therefore, employee will be exposed to heat and cold. Non-smoking workplace. During outbreak investigations may have extensive contact with the public and may be exposed to contagious illnesses. Work may involve wearing a mask or other personal protective equipment (PPE).
